About This Product Stone dust is a fine, powdery byproduct of crushed stone processing that compacts tightly to create a firm, smooth surface. It’s most commonly used as a setting bed for pavers, bricks, and flagstone — providing a stable, level base that locks in place once compacted. Locally sourced right here in Virginia.

Good to Know Stone dust is a popular and budget-friendly alternative to polymeric sand for joint filling — polymeric sand performs well but runs significantly more expensive. For DIY hardscape projects where cost matters, stone dust gets the job done at a fraction of the price.
Like Crusher Run, stone dust compacts best with a plate compactor, though hand tamping works fine for smaller jobs. Once wet and compacted it sets up firm — that’s by design.
